ESTIMATOR

Objectives / Scope:

• To prepare Cost Estimates in accordance with company procedures on various activities including Studies, Projects and Management of Change requirements
• To assist in the provision of administration of estimating input to the Akims system 
• Involvement in estimates covering Capex, Opex and Life Cycle Costs for all levels of estimates related to onshore plant and fixed and floating production facilities in the North Sea and other environments.
• To input and maintain to the provision of a database of in-house information relates to company rates, norms and prices and to obtain feedback from completed projects.

Main Responsibilities:

•  Providing estimating services for Studies, Project work and Management of Change.
•  Preparing estimates at detailed level.
•  Input as required to development of estimating systems to meet current and future needs.
•  Providing feedback on norms and prices for engineering, materials, construction, operations and Life Cycle costing.
•  Assist in maintaining processes within the AKIMS system.
•  Attendance where required at project meetings to answer queries on Estimating.

LEAD ESTIMATOR

Line Manager of: Estimators

Objectives / Scope: 

To lead the production of estimates in accordance with company procedures on various activities including Studies and Projects, and to be a project focal point in the provision of a comprehensive estimating system covering Capex, Opex and Life Cycle costs for all levels of estimates related to onshore and offshore production facilities in the North Sea. To co-ordinate the provision of feedback from completed projects and assist the input of information into the database of in-house information related to company rates, norms and prices.

Main Responsibilities

Leading and co-ordinating:

• The provision of an estimating service covering modifications to existing North Sea production facilities, and new builds.

• Preparation of top down, screening estimates and detailed, level 3 & 4 estimates consistent with scope definition and in accordance with estimating procedures and guidelines, and the Company Risk Management system. 

• Liaison with Project Engineering to ensure the necessary take-off information is made available at the right time to prepare the required estimates.

• The provision of estimating advice to senior projects personnel when doing comparative studies

• Liaison with other team members, including procurement, planning and contract administration in the pursuit of effective cost control

• Providing feedback on norms and prices for engineering, materials and construction.

• The development of the estimating systems and proposing improvements to procedures to meet current and future needs.

• Input to maintaining processes within the Company Management System

• Attendance at project meetings to answer queries on estimating

• Assistance with the commercial aspect of Project Management

• Support to the cost risk assessment process

• All roles as defined on the estimating competency matrix

HS & E Responsibilities: 

Lead by example in:

• Being familiar with the Aker Solutions HSE Operating System, HSE&Q Policies, principles, HSE Mindset and Just Care
• Adhering to Personal Responsibility for HSE requirements, local site house rules and preparing a personal HS&E agreement with line supervisor and reviewing regularly
• Setting good personal examples on HS&E issues within your areas of operation and influence, and co-ordinating the reporting of all accidents, incidents and near misses and reporting of same to project management
• Completing all online HS&E training and awareness modules on the Aker Solutions e-net, and ensuring functional team members’ compliance
• Actively promoting the Aker Solutions HSE principles, HSE Mindset and Just Care through personal commitment to HS&E
• Demonstrating HS&E Leadership in line with company expectations.  
• Being clear when setting out expectations to the functional team and holding individuals accountable for their HSE performance in line with our rules of fair play and stressing the obligation to intervene and interact with one another at all levels

ESTIMATOR

Qualifications: HNC/ HND in Surveying

Specific Training / Specialist Skills: 

• Numerate
• Commercial awareness
• Ability to analyse technical and contractual documents 
• Ability to analyse estimates
• Ability to identify risk and opportunities
• High level of computer literacy

Experience: Demonstrable experience in a similar role

Personal Skills:

• Strong communication skills both written and oral
• Ability to interact with other personnel of all levels

LEAD ESTIMATOR

Qualifications: 

• QS or other professional qualifications, HNC/HND 

• Member of Association of Cost Engineers 

Specific Training / Specialist Skills: Highly numerate 

Experience:  +15 years experience in North Sea or other oil and gas estimating

Personal Skills: 

• Good leadership skills.

• Ability to motivate team 

• Ability to communication well with managers and the team
