Junior Marine Pilot –Level 3

Undertake all duties for maintaining a navigational watch of the ship at the Operational level, including the planning of and conducting a passage plan to ensure the safe navigation of the vessel at all times.
Be qualified to use the Global Maritime Distress and Safety systems and respond to Emergencies and distress signal at sea.
Undertake watch keeping of Cargo and ballast handling at the operational level. Monitor the loading, stowage, securing and care of the cargo during the voyage to ensure safe carriage and the protection of the environment.
Ensure compliance with Pollution prevention requirements to ensure compliance with Legislative requirements.
Operate and maintain Life-saving and fire-fighting appliances to ensure immediate availability and response in the event of an incident.

Complete High School (Education grade 12 required, including diploma);
STCW Certificate of Competency as a deck Officer – unlimited (minimum STCW Class 3 Deck Officer);
English Language – higher than IELTS level 5.0 and fluent in Portuguese language;
A good operational understanding of computers is necessary in basic programs like Word, Excel;
Sailing experience with a Merchant Marine company post acquiring the COC and on tank ships involved in the carriage of Liquid Hydrocarbons would be an added advantage.
